First, before we start, Happy First Day out of the January blues! Hurrah to us! To be honest (I’m pretty sure I’ve said this somewhere else on the Internet) but, I’ve not really felt blue about January, except for the fact it’s been the longest month EVER. I’ve been feeling really positive about the future and excited to see what this year brings. It’s only the end of January and I have one confirmed photoshoot (with three photographers) as well as a shoot being planned with the original photographer of this post, have a look at her Instagram here. I can’t help but feel excited about it.no matter how long it lasts, it’s cool it happened anyway. I’m hoping to build a good relationship (work & friendship) with Bella! She’s lovely and I love her photos!
So I was up super early today as I was meant to have a shoot with the two photographers & Bella. But long story short, someone had to pull out so we have rescheduled for Sunday instead! So Chris and I decided to bring our lunch date forward. But since I was already half dressed when we decided to reschedule, I just decided to restyle some of the items I was already wearing. We had decided on certain items for the photoshoot, so I just switched those out. So I’m afraid you may see some certain items again styled in a different way. Which, to be honest, I don’t think is a bad thing. Gives you guys some inspiration, you can see how to restyle certain things and it also shows you that I rewear things. There’s that old joke about bloggers isn’t there, that they only wear something once? I’ve seen plenty of people online doing this, big names too.
So since we had specifically chosen a dress, lip colour (with a second for back up in my bag), as well my shoes (again with multiple shoe choices in a separate bag, so people had a choice and for practical purposes). I decide to keep with overall makeup look I did and the pink lippie, as well as my beautiful pink beauty from Cath Kidston that I snapped up for a bargain of £14 (originally £55) on eBay! I decided to go for this blue floral tee dress, because I thought the tone of the blue matched the tone of my pink lipstick. Plus, I can’t help myself and double up floral print. I know, I don’t understand my style myself. How can I go from the other days outfit, to this overtly girly outfit? I was still able to stick to the slight grunge vibes that I love with my make up. I darkened the eye slightly and really smoked it out. I think it works and all goes well together.
As we are still dealing with pretty chilly weather in Scotland, I really had to layer something underneath the dress. I thought this light grey polo neck suited the hue of the colours I had also chosen, plus, for something super thin it really adds ALOT of warmth without feeling smothered. If you see anything similar, I recommend you snapping them up! Before I even stepped outdoors I decided the best option for a coat was something that would resemble a dressing gown. Something that would cover me entirely as far down to my tootsies as I could go! It was ether this beauty or my shearling coat that I’ve been wearing the s**t out of is winter… I opted for the later. Keeping with the colours and overall smartness of the outfit I thought my beautiful blue suede brogues from next would look great! Since it’s freezing and sunny I need this thick warm grey scarf and this uniquely shaped glasses. I was set to go.
Since it was a nice day and I had half my face on, we decided to not waste the day (or makeup) and go for our lunch date today instead of tomorrow (check instagram for food/everyday photos). What’s a days difference eh? That’s another reason why I was going for a slightly more smart look in the end for today, we were gonna go somewhere nice to eat. Not just an average tgis… (not that there’s anything wrong with tgis, I just like an excuse to dress up!). And because going for something nice to eat was the main event of the day, why not use it as an excuse to dress a bit more fancy than usual? I love this coat, but I always feel it’s quite a smart coat and needs a bit more of a special occasion or outfit to dust it off. Not literal dusting off, thankfully. Have you seen the colour of it?
Just as I started writing this post, I noticed I dressed in blue while talking about the January blues, without even realising it! So how have you felt this January? Are you glad it’s over and looking forward to the rest of the year. Let me know below, I’d love to know your thoughts!
